The larger commercial town of Yeovil is just 11 miles away and boasts several large ‘superstore’ supermarkets, out of town retail parks, leisure facilities including theatre, cinema, bowling, a leisure centre with swimming pools, and a large hospital.

Taunton, the county town of Somerset, together with the beautiful cathedral cities of Exeter and Wells lie a little further afield, offering a vibrant array of shopping and leisure pursuits, including fine dining, historic architecture and international sporting events. Sports venues include cricket at the County ground at Taunton, racing in Taunton, Exeter and Wincanton and golf courses in Cricket St. Thomas (5 miles), Taunton and Yeovil. Hinton St George is 35 minutes away from the ‘The Pearl of Dorset’ Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast.
